Our St. Francis Xavier School Pledge
I am a child of God, a citizen of the world, and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Community. I will love God, speak truth, respect myself, treat all people as my brothers and sisters, learn as much as I can, seek peace and show fairness, care for my environment, and represent the mission of my school with dignity and grace: We pray, we learn, we serve. |

Language Arts |
This week in Reading, we will begin the first "chunk" of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. The spelling words and the vocabulary words both come from the reading directly. We will be having our regular pretests on Mondays, vocabulary due every Thursday and assessments related to all the words and readings on Friday for the next 4 weeks while we do our novel study! |
This week in Language Arts, your student will be writing their outlines for the argumentative essay.
This is the opinion type that is used as an assessment essay prompt on the ACT Aspire in the spring. It is important for students to know what is required of them when they develop an opinion into an argument including the appropriate support for that argument. They will also be working on diagramming sentences. |
